WHAT IS MILLION PIXELS TO END HOMELESSNESS?
MPTEH is a website established by The Salem Mission (TSM) in order to thank sponsors and donors to the Mission. It is not an advertising site and space on the website cannot be purchased
HOW DOES IT WORK?
As a way of thanking our sponsors we have created the MPTEH website. When you sponsor an event held by TSM we will invite you to submit a logo and will publish this along with a link to your website.
WHAT IS THE SALEM MISSION?
The Salem Mission (www.salemmission.org) is an organization that is dedicated to ending homelessness by helping the individuals it serves learn the skills necessary for independent living. The Mission is currently undertaking the Seeds of Hope project. Already completed is the new Mission Centre (just waiting a major donor to name it) which houses the shelter and is the centre of the education and training programs. By early 2007 we expect to convert two adjacent buildings into 22 units of supportive housing.
The Salem Mission also runs a food pantry that serves 1,100 families and provides 3 meals a day, every day of the year, to the community. We currently serve around 110,000 meals a year, the equivalent of filling Fenway Park more than three times with people.
The Salem Mission's plans to end homelessness have been called 'a model for the nation' (see article on website). Since September 2005 we have moved 35 people into permanent housing; 33 have completed a computer training course; and 35 have found employment.
